Digital Taster Course: How to Get Going with your Poetry
12.00 – 1.30 pm Friday 26 March 2021
Join former National Poet of Wales, Gwyneth Lewis, to look at the basics of writing poetry. Perhaps you are brand new to the craft, or returning after a hiatus – or maybe you are an experienced poet yourself looking for inspiration. This workshop will give a brief overview of how to get going, and turn your thoughts and muses into words on a page. The workshop will last an hour, but time has been set aside to settle in at the beginning, to ask questions, and for discussions with your fellow writers at the end.
The Tŷ Newydd taster courses series will offer a whistle-stop tour of various genres and themes in both English and Welsh, to continue to inspire your writing during the winter months. Participant numbers for each taster course will be capped at 16, and the course will be delivered through the video platform Zoom. We hope to welcome you to Tŷ Newydd Writing Centre when we reopen our doors, where we offer a programme of day-long, weekend and week-long residential courses at our beautiful house in Llanystumdwy.
Literature Wales aims to enable everybody who would benefit from a course at Tŷ Newydd to do so, regardless of income or level of experience, and writers on low income have been identified as one of Literature Wales’ target client characteristics. If you cannot afford the course fee, please contact us to enquire about one of our allocated free spaces. Please note that whilst we will try our very best, we cannot always guarantee a free space due to the high volume of applications expected.
