Bethan Gwanas has written 37 books for children and adults including the popular series for Welsh learners, Bywyd Blodwen Jones (Gomer, 1999). She’s also an editor, and an experienced creative writing tutor and a Welsh for adults tutor. She has won Tir Na n-Og prizes for her books for YA, Llinyn Trôns (Y Lolfa, 2000) and Sgôr (Y Lolfa, 2002), and she was the inaugural winner of the T Llew Jones Memorial Prize for Gwylliaid (Gomer, 2014). Her novel Hi yw Fy Ffrind (Y Lolfa, 2004) was shortlisted for Wales Book of the Year 2005. She’s written many plays for the stage, TV and radio, and she has written a column for the Herald Gymraeg in the Daily Post for over 18 years.
Creative Writing for Welsh Learners
This is a course for Intermediate Level Welsh Learners who are interested in any form of creative writing, including poems, short stories, scripts and more. Everyone will practice their Welsh on this course, however the writing will be the main focus of the weekend. There will be a chance to work in groups and individually, and we’ll take short walks and engage in writing challenges to find inspiration.
Eilir Jones has over twenty years' experience in writing for the radio, TV and theatre. He’s known for creating popular Welsh comedy, including writing shows for Cwmni Theatr Bara Caws, and creating the characters Ffarmwr Ffowc and PC Leslie Wynne. He recently created a show about the First World War for Conwy schools, and a comedy show for S4C. For five years he’s been teaching Welsh in the community for Coleg Cambria and Bangor University.
