Course Fee / From £525 per person
Language / English

Do you have a writing deadline, or are you simply looking to escape from a busy life for a short while? Our fully catered retreats will provide you with the time and space to write, read and relax. Set in a peaceful location in the stunning surroundings of rural north Wales, you can take inspiration from the spectacular sea views over Cardigan Bay, share ideas over dinner or simply sit back and relax in Tŷ Newydd’s cosy library.

The centre is set in its own beautiful grounds and within walking distance to the beach and a riverbank path in the woods – you’ll find yourself surrounded by nature and wildlife. You can also walk down to the village inn to experience a warm welcome. Everyone will have a room of their own, and your home-cooked meals will be prepared for you by our experienced resident chef. Literature Wales staff members will also be on hand throughout your stay to offer advice on our opportunities for writers.

During the retreat, literary agent Cathryn Summerhayes will visit for a few days and will run optional workshops on professional writer development including good practice in finding an agent, how to get published, tips of the trade, and more. Cathryn will also be available for a one-to-one surgery to discuss your work and your journey as a writer.

On our retreats, you can choose your room. We offer a range of rooms at a variety or prices and accessibility. Please enquire for further information about individual rooms before booking.

“My true passion as a literary agent is for uniqueness, be that in the way an author writes or the subject he or she is writing about. I am passionate about great storytelling, beautiful books, inspiring voices. My relationships with each of my authors is very important and I pride myself of being in it for the long-game, nurturing books through to publication and beyond and building writing careers long-term. The Curtis Brown team’s passion for the written word and printed pages mirrors my own. My taste is best described as literary, but I have some wonderfully commercial authors whose voices and plots transcend the everyday. I am looking for something special in everything I read – and I am constantly surprised by what enchants me” – Cathryn Summerhayes
