A Boat Trip on the Menai Strait: From Beaumaris to the Menai Bridge

This will be a Welsh-language event in the company of Gwyneth Glyn and Twm Morys. We will start from Beaumaris Marina, Anglesey, LL58 8BS.

This is an event aimed at those over 50, but there is a warm welcome for all. This event is organised by Literature Wales as part of the Gwanwyn Festival which celebrates creativity in older people.


Gwyneth Glyn

Gwyneth Glyn is a dramatist, singer-song writer, and an author to enjoys experimenting with different genres. She was Bardd Plant Cymru (Wales' Children's Poet Laureate) between 2006-07, and she's written extensively for TV and the theatre.

Twm Morys

Twm Morys was taught cynganeddion by his Welsh teacher, Arwyn Evans, at Brecon Comprehensive School. Arwyn gave him cynghanedd lessons during school hours as long as he completed the set work in his own time. Whilst in school, Twm became a member of Aberhonddu talwrn team, and has been a regular talyrnwr ever since. He has also been a regular ymrysonwr at the National Eisteddfod from a young age. In 1985 he won the Intercollegiate Eisteddfod chair and in 2003 he won the Chair at the National Eisteddfod in Meifod for his awdl, Drysau. He has published two collections of poems, most of which are in strict meters, and has performed in poetry evenings the length and breadth of Wales. He writes a regular poetry column in Y Cymro, and is the editor of Barddas, a Welsh poetry magazine. In Brittany, it has been said of him: “Just as porpoises swim in the sea, here is someone who swims in strict meter poetry”.
