Appealing to both beginners and experienced practitioners, this course will stimulate creative work across and between the arts, integrating painting, drawing and collage with poetry, prose, fiction and life-writing. The aim of this verbal and visual cross-genre approach is to achieve greater, deeper expression and wholeness, to liberate your authentic inner voice. Workshops, films, talks and readings will fill your days and evenings, with plenty of time to work on your projects alone as well as in one-to-ones with the tutors in addition.

Annie Freud

Annie Freud is a poet, teacher and artist. Her first collection The Best Man That Ever Was (2007) was a Poetry Book Society Recommendation and was awarded The Dimplex Prize for New Writing. Her second collection, The Mirabelles (2010), was a Poetry Book Society Choice and was shortlisted for the T S Eliot Prize. Her poems have appeared in many magazines and websites. Her third collection, The Remains, was published in June 2015. Annie Freud has been named by the Poetry Book Society as one of the Next Generation Poets 2014. She is renowned for her live performances.

Pamela Robertson-Pearce

Pamela Robertson-Pearce is an artist, prize-winning filmmaker, translator, editor, and book cover designer for Bloodaxe Books. She has made two feature films on surrealist women artists as well as numerous documentaries on poets including To Do Wid Me about Benjamin Zephaniah. She took her BFA at St Martins School of Art and an MA in Theatre Arts at Emerson College, Boston.

Imtiaz Dharker

Imtiaz Dharker is a poet, artist and documentary film-maker. Awarded the Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry in 2014, her collections include The terrorist at my table and Over the Moon (Bloodaxe Books UK). She has been Poet in Residence at Cambridge University Library, for Thresholds, and recently completed a series of poems based on the Archives of St Paul’s Cathedral. Imtiaz has had ten solo exhibitions of drawings, and scripts and directs films, many for non-governmental organisations in India, in the area of shelter, education and health for women and children.
